Nuclear Weapons
The spread of nuclear weapons to states and terrorist groups is the greatest security threat facing the international community. Stemming proliferation is even more challenging since the end of the Cold War. Globalization, the technological revolution, unchecked regional conflict, the rise of illicit proliferation networks, and the advent of so-called catastrophic terrorism give new purpose to the nonproliferation community. The Stimson Center consistently develops unique, practical approaches to curbing the nuclear proliferation threat. The following sections outline the Center's many efforts geared toward preventing nuclear proliferation in its many forms.
